Dear NCTD Volunteer,

The NCTD Events Committee is pleased to offer a free continuing education “open floor” event for volunteer teams – humans and dogs – on November 9, 2024, from 12-4 pm.

Topic: Dog Trick Training

Presenter: Cheryl Matthews-White

Cheryl Mathews-White has been a certified trick dog trainer since 2016. She took the live classes from Kyra Sundance of Do More with Your Dog.  She loves teaching dogs and handlers various tricks.  Cheryl has been involved in therapy dog work since 2002 as one for the 4 teams that started the animal therapy  program at Children’s National Medical Center and Hospital for Sick Children. Cheryl is also a certified Healing Touch for Animals Practitioner and an Animal Reiki Master. Cheryl is currently teaching trick dog and puppy classes at Canine Training Association in Beltsville, Maryland. Cheryl is also a certified dog trainer – CTC.  Cheryl is also AKC CGC evaluator and Fit Dog judge. Cheryl and her dog Teddy are an active NCTD Therapy Dog team.

RSVP: 

A maximum of 15 NCTD Teams with dogs can participate; in addition, 8 handlers/auditors without dogs can attend.  If you plan to attend, please register by clicking "register" on this page. There is no charge to attend.  There is no charge to attend.

Bring:  If you bring your dog, you should follow the same rules you would follow for a therapy visit.  Keep your dog on a 6 foot leash and a few feet away from other dogs. Bring water and water dish, blanket for your dog to lie on, bite size treats, and poop bags.
